selfridges_2.gifWe are delighted to have the support of Selfridges and Co who say:

"Selfridges aims to be an environmentally responsible company. We always look for ways to reduce energy consumption and cut carbon emissions without compromising our high standards of customer service and as such we recognise the importance of the ‘Close the Door’ campaign".

Caroline Lucas lends her support!

caroline_lucas.jpgTommy, Munya, Remy and Sam, our inspiring group of year 11 students from Patcham High School working in Brighton, have secured this statement from Caroline Lucas, Green Party MP for Brighton Pavilion:

"I am very happy to be supporting the Close the Door campaign which encourages shops to save money and carbon emissions just by closing their doors. Research from the Cambridge University proves that closing shop doors in winter reduces energy usage and carbon emissions by up to 50%. I am delighted that the campaign's first group of school pupils is from Patcham High School in Brighton. This is a wonderful example of how young people can engage with their local community to bring about change for the better."

Born tells how closing the door really works for business

Posted by admin on February 16, 2011

new_born_logo.jpgThe gorgeous Born shops have always kept their doors closed. This is what MD Eva Fernandes has to say:

"When the heaters are on we always keep our doors closed at Born. We open the door for customers when they enter and leave our stores. This not only saves our heating bills and carbon footprint but ensures our customers get a friendly greeting and goodbye. As a company that sells green and ethical baby products it's important that we follow that ethos through in our business in everything we do. It's also reassuring for customers who have toddlers as they aren't worried about them running off. This has always really worked well for us, it's useful to be able to communicate that to our customers by way of the sticker on the door."

You'll find the shops at

64 Gloucester Road, Bristol BS7 8BH and
168 Stoke Newington Church Street, London N16 0JL

and if you like organic, natural toys and clothes you'll love them.
